“Dress for Success is wonderful for the community. You are given more than just the clothes. You are given confidence. You can look at yourself in the mirror, with a new outfit and think WOW!”
Karen moved to Ottawa from the United States. Working for over 30 years in the paralegal field, she did not think she would have any trouble finding employment with her level of experience. It turned out to be much harder than anticipated.
With no luck finding a job, Karen enrolled at Algonquin Careers Academy. It was there that was referred to Dress for Success Ottawa. At her first boutique consultation, she was overwhelmed with the support she received.
As Karen said, “Not only were the consultants concerned with the clothes I should wear, but they wanted to know about me: what was my story, what was happening in my life. They really cared and were willing and eager to listen to me. It made me feel like someone actually cared.” Karen is now working in a legal group as an administrative assistant, and is determined to move up. She is learning, taking on new and additional tasks to move back into a paralegal position.
Thank you for your support and for helping women like Karen!
